Scarlett Johansson was a special part of this year’s Saturday Night Live tradition during the final episode of the year, which featured the annual “Weekend Update” segment where Colin Jost and Michael Che write jokes that the other must read for the first time on air. This time, Michael Che made Colin read jokes about Scarlett, who was present in the hallway, reacting live.
One of the first jokes Colin read, dedicated to his wife, Scarlett, was about her recent 40th birthday. He joked, “Y’all know Scarlett just celebrated her 40th birthday, which means I’m about to get up out of there!” Colin then quickly laughed it off and added, “Shiz! Nah, nah. I’m just playin’,” before continuing with another quip.
The next joke involved a Photoshopped image of the couple holding a Black baby, with Colin saying, “We just had a kid together, and y’all ain’t see no pictures of him yet, because he’s Black as hell!” This clearly surprised Scarlett, who could be seen reacting to the joke.
To wrap up the segment, Colin read another joke from Michael Che, which said, “Costco has removed their roast beef sandwich from its menu, but I ain’t tripping. I be eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid!” He followed it with a playful line, “Nah, nah, I just playin’ baby. You know I don’t go downtown! Shiz! That’s gay as hell!”
As usual, these moments of playful banter and improvised humor were met with laughs from the studio audience, and Scarlett’s live reactions added an extra layer of fun to the segment.
