Wicked fans, get ready for an exciting update! The second part of the movie adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical has officially been renamed Wicked: For Good. The announcement was made on December 16, with the official Wicked Instagram account sharing the news alongside a teaser: “You will be changed. Wicked: For Good, only in theaters November 21, 2025.💚🩷.”
The title For Good is a direct reference to one of the most emotional songs from the musical, performed as a duet between Elphaba and Glinda in the final moments of Act 2. The song is a poignant farewell as the two characters part ways, making the new title all the more fitting for the movie’s conclusion.
Wicked Part 1, which is already in theaters, covers the first act of the musical, while Wicked: For Good will take on Act 2, promising to deliver a conclusion to the story that’s just as magical and dramatic as the Broadway production.
In a recent interview, Cynthia Erivo, who portrays Elphaba in the film adaptations, shared her reasons for not wanting to play the role of Elphaba on Broadway, further adding a layer of insight into the experience of bringing such an iconic character to life.
