Lil Durk’s legal troubles have intensified, with federal prosecutors arguing that he should remain in custody without bail due to his potential involvement in a murder-for-hire plot. According to an unsealed April 2023 warrant, the rapper allegedly offered money to have people killed in connection to the 2020 murder of his brother, D-Thang. Prosecutors claim this has become a recurring pattern for Durk, and they link him to the January 2022 shooting death of 24-year-old Stephon Mack.
Mack, the leader of a rival gang faction, was killed outside a Youth Peace Center in Chicago. Federal investigators believe Durk may have motivated the murder by placing monetary bounties on individuals, and they pointed to a text message that allegedly reads, “Did Durk give you that money?” Further, they argue that Durk’s 2022 track “AHHH HA” serves as an admission, referencing his brother’s murder and the retaliation that followed.
Durk’s legal team, however, is contesting these claims, asserting that he poses no threat to the community and pushing for his release. Durk is also facing charges in another murder-for-hire case involving Quando Rondo’s cousin but has yet to enter a plea in that case. Despite the serious charges, Durk retains significant support from his fans.
