The Franklin Fire in Malibu, California, which began on the night of December 9, has prompted widespread evacuations, affecting thousands of residents, including several high-profile celebrities. The fire quickly spread due to strong winds, forcing over 2,000 people to evacuate, with another 6,000 on high alert for evacuation. While only a minimal number of homes have been destroyed so far, the fire is expected to continue into Wednesday.
Oscar winner Mira Sorvino shared on Twitter that she and her family had evacuated, expressing concern for her neighbors and loved ones in the area. Other celebrities with homes in Malibu who may be affected include Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Jonah Hill, Julia Roberts, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Aniston, and Nicolas Cage.
This is not the first major fire to threaten Malibu, as the 2018 Woolsey Fire also caused significant damage, destroying homes of stars like Miley Cyrus and Gerard Butler. The Franklin Fire continues to be a worrying situation for residents, both famous and non-famous alike.
