Olivia Wilde, at the 2024 Red Sea International Film Festival on December 8 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, shared insights into her approach to filmmaking and acting. She revealed that her motivation for choosing projects is driven by a desire for constant growth, stating, “I only choose things that are more challenging than the last thing I did. I feel bored otherwise.”
She also discussed her philosophy on success, emphasizing that she doesn’t make films to seek universal approval: “I don’t make movies so people love them. I want people to enjoy them. But I think it’s a losing game if you’re trying to make everybody’s favorite movie.” For Olivia, the key to success is creating something true to her own vision, rather than seeking validation.
In addition, Wilde explained why she continues acting, noting that it offers her a unique opportunity to observe other directors’ work. “For me acting is like espionage, because I get to see another director’s set,” she said. “And most directors never get to see other directors directing, ever.”
Olivia was wearing a Sportmax suit at the event.
