Chris Rock’s brother, Tony Rock, is defending his sibling after Chris faced backlash for walking offstage during a private event over the weekend. The incident occurred at billionaire Anthony Pratt’s Christmas party, where Chris reportedly “stormed out” mid-set, upset by audience members filming his performance, which violated a prior agreement.
Speaking to reporters at LAX, Tony Rock, who is also a comedian, expressed frustration with people filming comedians’ sets before their material is fully developed. He passionately argued that releasing unfinished work is akin to presenting incomplete products, such as “a chef giving you a plate of food before it’s finished” or “buying a car before it’s done making.” He referred to those who record and share incomplete material as “f***ing assholes,” sympathizing with Chris’ frustration.
After Chris left the stage, country singer Keith Urban took over, performing for around an hour and a half, ensuring the event continued smoothly.
