TMZ has confirmed that the gunman who killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson arrived in New York City on a Greyhound bus from Atlanta 10 days before the shooting. The suspect traveled to the Port Authority station in Manhattan and then checked into a hostel.
Thompson was fatally shot on November 24, 2024, outside a hotel in a targeted attack. The gunman fled the scene on a Citi Bike. Investigators later interviewed a hostel worker, who recalled flirting with the suspect and getting him to lower his mask, allowing authorities to capture a photo of his face.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear, but interestingly, the bullet casings found at the scene were inscribed with the words “deny,” “depose,” and “defend,” which may offer clues. Law enforcement is continuing to investigate the case.
