The search for the suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has taken an interesting turn with the discovery of a distinctive item he was carrying: a Peak Design Everyday Backpack. This high-end bag, often used by serious photographers but also popular for casual use, was spotted in security footage of the suspect. Although the bag isn’t a recent model—likely purchased between 2016 and 2019—it could provide valuable clues, especially since the suspect appeared to be carrying it while fleeing the scene on a bicycle.
The backpack’s specific design raises questions about the suspect’s background or intentions. Whether they have a connection to photography or simply chose the bag for its practical size and low profile remains unclear. Despite the NYPD releasing images of the suspect and footage from the scene, including the search of a Manhattan hostel where he was believed to have stayed, the suspect remains at large.
While the brand and model of the backpack might not immediately crack the case, it adds another layer to the investigation as authorities continue their search.
