New developments have emerged in the long-unsolved murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, with police claiming they have a thumb drive containing a recording of O.J. Simpson confessing to the crimes. According to a search warrant obtained by TMZ, the thumb drive was seized from Iroc Avelli, Simpson’s former bodyguard, as part of an unrelated investigation. The police believe the recording also implicates an unknown third party in the murders.
In June 2024, Minnesota police were informed by LAPD detectives about the existence of the thumb drive, which Avelli and his attorney reportedly disclosed during a meeting. The recording allegedly contains Simpson’s confession, but the contents of the drive have not yet been accessed. A judge approved a search warrant for Bloomington PD to examine the drive, though the investigation is still ongoing, and there have been legal disputes regarding the return of seized items, including the thumb drive.
Simpson was acquitted in 1995 in the criminal trial for the murders of Nicole and Ron, but was later found liable in a civil court. The new potential evidence raises questions about the case, though Simpson’s attorney, Malcolm LaVergne, who is seeking to auction off Simpson’s assets to settle his debts, believes this may be the most significant development yet.
