Showrunner and creator Kurt Sutter is no longer involved with his new Netflix series The Abandons.
The actor, writer, director and producer (who famously worked on and starred in Sons of Anarchy) was serving as an executive producer on the show, which is a Western starring the likes of Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson.
News of his departure comes with an alleged three weeks left of production, and sources have hinted at what sparked the decision.

According to reporting by Deadline, there were “creative differences over the direction of the big-scale production as it is wrapping filming and heading into post.”
There were reportedly issues with the length of the show’s premiere episode, which has been split into two. Executives at the streamer reportedly felt the first few episodes “looked somewhat disjointed.”
With Kurt out, executive producer and director Otto Bathurst and co-executive producer Rob Askins are stepping up to finish production. There will be no new showrunner.
The show will need to finish normal production, and there are plans for some reshoots.
Thus far, Netflix and Kurt have turned down requests for comment. We’ll let you know if we learn more.
