Maria Menounos recently opened up about an unexpected experience of being judged after choosing to have a child through surrogacy. In an interview on Women in the Nude podcast with Sasha Pieterse, Maria shared that a former friend—someone who had worked for her—questioned why she couldn’t carry a child, despite knowing the medical reasons behind her decision.
Maria explained that her top neurosurgeon had advised against pregnancy due to health concerns. However, the friend dismissed the explanation, saying it “just doesn’t make any sense.” This response deeply hurt Maria, as the friend, who was aware of her struggles, failed to understand her situation.
As a result, Maria decided to sever ties with the friend, feeling that judgment from those closest to her was particularly painful. She said, “It’s one thing to be judged by outside people who don’t know and don’t get it. But you actually know me, and you know what we’ve gone through. For you to even say anything so judgmental is just crazy to me.”
In addition to discussing her experience with surrogacy, Maria also reflected on her battle with Stage 2 pancreatic cancer, which she bravely overcame in 2023.
