Mandy Moore has responded firmly to criticism regarding her decision to share a fundraiser for her in-laws, who lost their home in the recent Los Angeles fires. After some followers questioned whether she was financially assisting her family members, Mandy took to Instagram to set the record straight.
“People questioning whether we’re helping out our own family or attributing some arbitrary amount of money Google says someone has is NOT helpful or empathetic,” Mandy wrote. She explained that the fundraiser was started by a friend, Matt, and that she shared it because others had asked how they could contribute. She also addressed critics bluntly: “We just lost most of our life in a fire too. Kindly F OFF. No one is forcing you to do anything.”
Mandy further opened up about experiencing “survivor’s guilt” since her own home was spared while others, including her in-laws’, were not. Her candid response sheds light on the emotional toll the devastating fires have taken on her and her family.
