Adam Carolla, like many others, is grappling with the uncertainty of the L.A. wildfires, unsure whether his Malibu home has survived. While appearing on TMZ Live from Las Vegas, where he’s currently performing, the comedian shared his pragmatic take on the risks of living in fire-prone areas such as Malibu.
Carolla acknowledged the harsh reality: if you choose to live in these areas, you must accept the possibility of wildfires. He even empathized with insurance companies that hesitate to cover properties in regions that are highly susceptible to frequent fires, describing it as “a place that’s gonna catch on fire every 15 minutes.”
He pointed to climate change and California’s year-round fire season as major contributors to the state’s wildfire crisis but believes there are actions politicians could take to help mitigate the impact of these natural disasters.
As for his Malibu home, Carolla will have to wait until he returns to see if it’s still standing. If it is, he admitted he might face feelings of survivor’s guilt, knowing how many others have lost their homes.
