Danielle Vasinova, known for her roles in 1923 and The Madison, has shared her harrowing experience of battling COVID-19 in December 2019, a time when the virus was not yet widely recognized. The 42-year-old actress revealed that the illness brought her to the brink of death, with her heart stopping for three minutes before being revived.
Initially misdiagnosed with strep throat, Danielle’s condition rapidly deteriorated. “By the next day, I could barely walk. My legs wouldn’t move. It was bizarre,” she told People. Her uncle took her to the emergency room later that night, where her condition worsened dramatically.
“I felt like I was going to die,” she recounted. Her uncle witnessed medical staff scrambling to save her, including a petite healthcare worker performing chest compressions. “And then he saw my heartbeat on the monitor just go. Flatlined.” Danielle was revived and placed into an induced coma due to complete organ failure caused by the infection.
Reflecting on her near-death experience, Danielle said she didn’t see the stereotypical “light or tunnel,” but began noticing “angel numbers” like 5555 and 7777. She interpreted these as signs of her survival’s purpose: “There’s something more for you. You weren’t meant to go just yet. You’re meant to do something else.”
Danielle views her survival as a “rebirth” and a significant turning point. “I know to take nothing for granted. Life is so precious and it is such a gift. We’re here to do some good in the world, to be of service, and to be forever grateful,” she concluded.
