The Broadway revival of *Gypsy*, starring the legendary Audra McDonald, has officially opened at the Majestic Theatre in New York City. The star-studded opening night on December 19, 2024, featured a red carpet filled with celebrities, including Broadway besties Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff. The two met while working on *Spring Awakening* in 2006 and have remained close friends ever since.
Lea Michele has a special connection with Audra McDonald, having worked with her as a child in the original 1998 production of *Ragtime*.
Audra McDonald, alongside Danny Burstein and Joy Woods, stars in the new production of *Gypsy*, which is receiving rave reviews. The Majestic Theatre, which had been dark since *The Phantom of the Opera* closed in April 2023, has now reopened with this highly anticipated revival.
Among the many celebrities who attended the opening were Laverne Cox, Phillipa Soo, Adrienne Warren, Alec Baldwin and wife Hilaria, Tovah Feldshuh, Cynthia Erivo, Zach Braff, Billy Eichner, and many more.
