The official trailer for The Electric State has been released, giving fans a glimpse into the long-awaited film starring Millie Bobby Brown. The movie is based on Simon Stålenhag’s book of the same name and has been in development for over two years. Set in an alternate, retro-futuristic 1990s, the film is directed by the same team behind Avengers: Endgame.
Millie Bobby Brown plays Michelle, an orphaned teenager living in a society where sentient robots once coexisted peacefully with humans but now live in exile after a failed uprising. Michelle’s life is turned upside down when a robot named Cosmo, linked to her genius younger brother Christopher (whom she thought was dead), appears. Determined to find Christopher, Michelle embarks on an adventure across the American southwest. Along the way, she teams up with Keats (Chris Pratt), a smuggler, and his robot sidekick Herman (Anthony Mackie). As they venture into the Exclusion Zone, they encounter new allies and uncover darker secrets behind Christopher’s disappearance.
The film also stars Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Woody Norman, Giancarlo Esposito, and Stanley Tucci, with notable voices from Woody Harrelson, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Hank Azaria, Colman Domingo, and Alan Tudyk. The Electric State will premiere on Netflix on March 14, 2025.
