Danny Masterson’s legal team has filed an appeal to challenge his 2023 rape conviction, which resulted in a 30-year prison sentence. The appeal, submitted by his lawyer Cliff Gardner, argues that the trial had significant flaws, including judicial errors that allegedly influenced the jury’s perception of the case, and the withholding of exculpatory evidence that could have supported Masterson’s defense.
In addition to the appeal, Masterson’s team is preparing a Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus, aimed at further addressing potential issues with the trial process. His wife, Bijou Phillips, filed for divorce after his sentencing, and Masterson was denied bail in January 2024, in part due to the divorce proceedings.
