Flavor Flav is clearing the air regarding his remarks about singer Chappell Roan after a recent interview where he initially criticized her approach to fan interactions. During TMZ’s Merry Elfin’ Christmas special, Flav was told that Chappell had been described as a celebrity uncomfortable with fame, especially in terms of setting boundaries with fans. Without fully understanding the context, he expressed concern over what he perceived as dismissive behavior toward supporters, emphasizing the importance of fans in an artist’s career.
Flav initially said:
“Honestly, I do think it’s one of the biggest mistakes she can make because it’s all of the people that make her who she is to society. If people can take their time out for you, you should be able to take your time out for them. I get scared when nobody comes up asking for a selfie. I get nervous!”
After learning more about the situation—including the fact that Chappell’s boundaries stemmed from concerns about her privacy being threatened—Flavor Flav clarified his comments on Twitter:
“I was asked about Chappell Roan and was told that she was rude to fans. I don’t really know her or the situation and said that it’s a mistake because it’s the fans that make us who we are. BUT,,, if individuals are threatening her privacy or boundaries,,, good for her to speak up,!! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 We are Good and Hot to Go,!!”
His clarification highlights his support for artists asserting their boundaries while reaffirming his gratitude for fan support in his own career.
